The challenge for Day 3 of the Biannual Bibliothon is to rewrite the synopsis of a book you love from the perspective of the villain, and is hosted by Dominique. For this challenge I chose an old favorite to rewrite: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket from the perspective of Count Olaf!
I’m sorry to say that the book you are holding in your hands is extremely unpleasant. It tells an unhappy tale about a very unlucky actor. Even though he is charming and handsome, Count Olaf leads a life filled with misery and misunderstanding audiences. Our good-looking and talented hero sees a chance to obtain the financial security and renown he has always deserved after the unfortunate deaths of distant relatives, but in his way stands three orphans, unappreciative of Olaf’s strife.
In this short book alone, the talented actor encounters a contagious and inefficient banker, a trio of spoiled brats, a magnificent theatrical performance, and poorly-cooked roast beef.
It is my sad duty to write down these unpleasant tales, but there is nothing stopping you from putting this book down at once and reading something happy, if you prefer that sort of thing.
With all due respect,
That was fun to do, but difficult to sympathize with Olaf! I hope it was fun to look at things from his perspective; I made it a bit ridiculous on purpose.
