BIBIB / Booktubeathon Wrap-Up

The week of the summer Biannual Bibliothon and Booktubeathon is over! I had a ton of fun reading with the whole community, and even though it took me a few days I ended up having a ton of fun getting involved with the readathons on Twitter. Even though I dropped off doing blog challenges on Day 3, I ended up completing 7 books (plus 2 and a graphic novel that didn’t go with any challenges) and all 7 reading challenges of each readathon while having a great time, so I’d count that as a success. I also read some amazing books along the way!

Without further ado, here are the books I read during the Biannual Bibliothon and Booktubeathon! Continue reading

The Villain Synopsis | BIBIB Day 3

The challenge for Day 3 of the Biannual Bibliothon is to rewrite the synopsis of a book you love from the perspective of the villain, and is hosted by Dominique. For this challenge I chose an old favorite to rewrite: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket from the perspective of Count Olaf! Continue reading

Review: The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin | BIBIB Day 2

The Biannual Bibliothon challenge for day 2 is a book review, hosted by Kassie. Since the only reviews I have on this blog so far are for books I didn’t like or thought were only okay, I decided I would write a review on a book I absolutely loved, or more specifically, 2 books: The Fifth Season and The Obelisk Gate by N.K. Jemisin, the first of the Broken Earth trilogy.

5ssnRating: 5/5 stars

This is the way the world ends…for the last time.

A season of endings has begun.

It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world’s sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun.

It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter.

It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester.

This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Blogger Book Tag | BIBIB Day 1

I’m so excited to start off this week’s readathon with this tag! So far everything’s off to a pretty good start with my reading. I read 135 pages of Flame in the Mist last night, and another 20ish pages before I got ready for work. Unfortunately I have work all day, but I’m hoping to read Of Mice & Men outside on my break. Now that I’ve got the reading update done, here’s today’s blog challenge, a tag created by Nana of 4teenliars!

1. What are you planning to read for the Summer Biannual Bibliothon?

Here’s my full TBR, but I’m planning on reading Flame in the Mist, When the Moon was Ours, Of Mice & Men, Far From You, Challenger Deep, November 9, and Ash.

2. What is your favourite genre to read in Summer?

For some reason I’ve never been the type of person who likes to read specific genres at specific times. In summer I tend to actually read a bigger mix of genres than I usually would! If I had to choose I would probably say bigger fantasy/scifi series, because I can read all the books in a row without having to stop for school.

3.Where is your favorite place to read in the summer?

I usually read in my room, but in summer I like to hang up a hammock in my back yard and read there sometimes. I also love to go to local coffee shops and read there; it’s so peaceful and a great change of scenery.

4.What is your favorite challenge done in the Summer Biannual Bibliothon?

I love the challenge to read a book you found somewhere besides booktube. It’s been great to see a bunch of recommendations of books I haven’t heard a lot about!

5.What fictional character would you hang out in the summer if you could?

This is cliche, but I have to say the Marauders from Harry Potter. I’m the worst Marauders stan ever in the world, and they’re just the best. But of course I would include Lily in this because she’s also the best.

6.What are your plans for summer?

Most of my big plans for summer have already happened, so now my plans are mainly just working a lot to save up money for college. Earlier this summer, though, I went to nationals for forensics in Louisville, nationals for debate in Birmingham, and on a family trip to Tennessee.

7.Do you have summer reading playlist,If not what would be on it?

I don’t have a reading playlist, but my playlist I’ve been listening to lately has a lot of Glass Animals, Portugal the Man, Declan McKenna, Paramore, and Lorde.

8.What is your favorite summer movie?

I’m weird in the fact that I don’t really like movies! I don’t think I’ve watched a movie all year, definitely not all summer, so I can’t think of one. But a classic would definitely be High School Musical 2, so I’ll go with that.

9.What book do you read every summer,if not what thing do you do every summer?

I don’t have a book I read every summer, but every summer I go on a vacation somewhere with my family.

10.What other book tags are you planning to do this summer?

I’m pretty new to blogging, so I haven’t picked out any to do yet. If anyone has tags that are fun, link me to them and I’d love to check them out!

My first blog challenge is officially complete! I’m excited to get back to reading from my TBR and seeing what everyone else is reading.
